Video Game History Museum Officially Named One of the Most Beautiful

ZAGREB, October 24, 2025 – The Video Game History Museum, winner of the prestigious Zagreb Design Week Award 2025 for spatial design, celebrated this major recognition by hosting an event attended by public figures and influencers. The award crowns months of dedicated work, confirming that the museum’s aesthetically thoughtful space and innovative curatorial approach have been recognized by design professionals and the wider public alike.

An international jury of Zagreb Design Week recently awarded the Video Game History Museum in the category “Space Design” for the best museum interior, competing against 17 projects in interior and exterior design. The interior and exhibition design of the Museum was created by Clinica Studio, a team specializing in public and exhibition spaces, artistic installations, and museum exhibitions with a focus on immersive and interactive experiences.

“The museum’s permanent exhibition was conceived as a linear spatial narrative that chronologically follows the evolution of video games, with each era defined by its own color palette, lighting, music, and graphic elements. This creates a dialogue between past and present across multiple senses,”
explains Vedran Kasap from Clinica Studio.

Special attention was given to interactivity and the overall visitor experience — guests can try out many original arcade machines and consoles, as well as contemporary installations developed exclusively for the museum.

Damir Šlogar, founder and curator of the Museum, adds:

“We wanted to evoke both nostalgia and curiosity. Some visitors relive their childhood here, while others discover how games became what they are today. With Clinica Studio’s excellent design solutions, we managed to present video games as a cultural phenomenon that connects generations.”

The award ceremony turned into a festive celebration attended by Pamela Ramljak, Antonija Stupar Jurkin, influencers Gloria Berger, Ana Zibar, Ivana Marketin, and gamers Igor Belan, Marko Kofs, Anril, and BloodMaster, among others. In a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, guests explored the museum’s collection of more than 3,000 exhibits, many of which are rare and valuable.

The teenage rooms, authentically styled to reflect the aesthetics of different decades, served as a kind of time portal guiding visitors through four decades of video game history. One of the evening’s highlights was a friendly competition on the world’s largest Pac-Man, along with other playable classics from the museum’s permanent collection.

In just a few months since opening, the Zagreb Video Game History Museum has become an essential city attraction — confirmed by hundreds of glowing visitor reviews (currently 5.0 rating) on Google and TripAdvisor. The museum continues to expand its program with upcoming guest lectures and a new exhibition dedicated to the pioneers of Croatia’s video game scene, scheduled for early next year. With its growing lineup of events and exhibits, the museum continues to offer a unique experience that blends education and entertainment for all generations.

VIDEO GAME HISTORY MUSEUM: A UNIQUE COLLECTIONS LANDS IN ZAGREB

Zagreb, Croatia – 02/17/2025 – More than 3,000 relevant and exciting video game exhibits will be showcased and available for public viewing starting in May at the newly established Video Game History Museum (VGHM) in Zagreb. This unique museum project, the first of its kind in the region, represents an investment of over two million euros. The museum's founder and driving force is Damir Šlogar, a pioneer and internationally recognized authority in the world of video games.

What Will Be on Display?
The museum will cover the history of the video game industry from the late 1960s to the early 2000s. This one-of-a-kind exhibition in Europe will span three floors and more than 800 square meters. The collection has been assembled over nearly three decades and includes some of the rarest and most historically significant artifacts in video game history. Alongside individual exhibits—some of which are rare gaming gems rarely seen by the public—the museum will also feature interactive displays, allowing visitors to experience the past firsthand. Special events, guest lectures, and meet-ups with some of the most influential figures in the industry are also planned for gaming enthusiasts. The museum’s extensive collection includes original arcade machines, such as the legendary Computer Space and PONG, as well as the world’s largest collection of 20th-century computer games. The founder has already announced special themed exhibitions, continuous expansion of the collection, and surprise features, including displays of next-generation technology.

Who is the Founder?
Damir Šlogar has been part of the video game industry for over 40 years, with more than half of that time spent working in the heart of the industry—Canada and the United States. A pioneer and now a veteran of this dynamic world, he has worked on over 150 game titles, including globally renowned franchises such as Shrek, Barbie, Battlefield, and My Singing Monsters. As both the founder and curator, his goal is not only to showcase the evolution of video games but also to highlight their impact on technology and pop culture. Despite Zagreb and Croatia’s growing presence in the gaming industry, this globally significant sector has not received the visibility it deserves—until now. "Video games have been an essential part of my life, and through this museum, I want to share that passion with the world—especially with younger generations who may not have experienced the magic of gaming’s early days," says Damir. After an extensive and successful career abroad, he is now bringing his extraordinary collection back to his hometown, significantly enriching Zagreb’s cultural and tourist offerings.
